FRANCIS
JACKSON was born at
Malton, Yorkshire, in 1917. As a
boy he was a chorister at York
Minster under its eminent
organist and Choirmaster, Sir
Edward Bairstow. For ten years,
under Bairstow's tuition he
studied organ, piano and
composition. He gained the
B.Mus. degree at Durham at the
age of 19, and the F.R.C.O. in
the same year, in which
esamination he received the
Limpus Prize for the highest
marks in organ playing. Twenty
years later he graduated D.Mus.
at Dirham. He has given a great
many recitals in Britain and has
toured Denmark and North America
in recitals, lectures and master
classes. He is a frequent
broadcaster in both solo
recitals and concertos. His
published compositions are
mainly for the organ and the
Church.
