Among
Gould's posthumous effects was a long list
of "Scores to Learn". There is every
indication that he would have abandoned
the piano after his fiftieth birthday and
devoted himself entirely to conducting.
But only one of the projects materialized:
Wagner's Siegfried Idyll. This was
indeed Gould's final recording, made with
members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra
on 8 September 1982. |
